Viva La Color Gloss!

Today we’re going to talk about the wonders of the color gloss. Don’t know what a color gloss is? No problem, that’s why we’re here!

Let’s start with a basic definition of what a color gloss is. In short, it’s a semi-permanent gloss that is put on at the shampoo bowl to give you that perfect shade of blonde, brunette, red ect. It gives your hair an amazing glossy shine that lasts for weeks! Here at Salon Envy we use the Redken Shades EQ.

There’s a reason for all types of colors to do a gloss. If you’re a blonde it’s especially important to do one! After the blonde has been put on and before the gloss is applied you’re just plain old blonde, like a blank canvas. And who wants to be a plain old anything? Chances are you want the vibrancy that a gloss gives; the perfect shade of creamy, golden, peachy, goodness that only a gloss can do. It will also make your re-growth a lot less noticeable (and scary).

For every other color than blonde it’s a great way to take out the brassy or dull tones in your hair. A gloss sits on the top of your hair, bringing out the natural beauty of your color and letting it shine. Even if you don’t like to color your hair, a gloss is a good way to bring some life back into your locks, there’s even a basic clear!

Now once you have the color what’s the golden rule? Protect it! If you love your color walking out of the salon, the only way to keep it bright and beautiful is by using the right products at home. We carry some great color protecting products ranging in price to fit every budget. Kerastase has a great new sulfate-free color line, Chroma Captive, which can protect and shine for weeks after your color. Bumble & Bumble also just came out with a line for color that promises to protect the color for up to 40 washes! Redken also has a budget-friendly line of color care that that will keep every shade healthy and happy.
